Requests for new service need to be made at least one business day prior to the date you want your service connected. You will need to call Boone Electric Cooperative or stop by the office to apply for new service. Same-day service requests made before 5 p.m. will have a charge of $25; requests made after 5 p.m. will have a charge of $50.

A soft credit check is required for all new applicants. This will help determine the amount of the security deposit, which is based on the Potential Delinquency Risk of the applicant(s) or member(s). Additional meters will also require a security deposit. In addition, there will be a non-refundable $10 service connection charge added to your first bill.

Limited Liability Companies (LLCs) are not allowed to have electric service connected solely in the name of the LLC without also listing a personal guarantor from a designated representative of the LLC. A membership account established by an LLC with a personal guarantor shall comply with the security deposit provisions set forth in item K.1.a. to c. If no commercial credit history is available for the LLC at the time of application, the maximum commercial security deposit will be required as established in item K.1.c.

Policy K as referenced above:

An applicant(s) or member(s) must meet one of the following provisions to obtain service to a commercial establishment or to obtain service for any use other than a single-family residence:

1. Pay to the Cooperative a commercial security deposit. The amount of the commercial security deposit shall be based on the potential delinquency risk of the applicant(s) or member(s) as verified through a commercial credit source rating.

a. An applicant(s) or member(s) with a Low Potential Delinquency Risk poses no credit risk to the Cooperative, therefore will not be charged a security deposit.

b. An applicant(s) or member(s) with a Moderate Potential Delinquency Risk poses minimal/moderate credit risk to the Cooperative, therefore will be charged a security deposit equal to two (2) times the average electric bill based on the most recent 12-month period at the requested service location.

c. An applicant(s) or member(s) with a High/Substantial Potential Delinquency Risk poses high/substantial credit risk to the Cooperative, therefore will be charged the maximum security deposit equal to three (3) times the average electric bill based on the most recent 12-month period at the requested service location.
