How We Are Funded
The Trust is primarily funded through the Operation Round Up program and unclaimed capital credits. Each month, with less than a dollar, you can support your community. With Operation Round Up, members may choose to round up their monthly electric bill to the next highest dollar amount. The difference in change goes directly to the Boone Electric Community Trust.
By participating in Operation Round Up each month, you will donate an average of $6 per year. This may not seem like a large amount, but if all of our members participate, the thousands of dollars raised every year will be a real benefit to our community.
Rounding Up Example
An example of ’rounding up’ your electrical bill: If your bill is $82.15, you would elect to have round your bill up to the nearest dollar amount of $83.00 and the remaining 85 cents will be held in a separate account for the Community Trust.
One-time donations, estate planning and other traditional forms of contribution will also be accepted. All contributions are tax-deductible to the extent the law allows. Boone Electric donates all administrative services and incurred costs, so every penny donated is used directly for community assistance.
